Lesson Plan Outline: Lessons will include a variety of concepts found in the flute repertoire. This includes: flute history, rhythm & tempo, dynamics, expression, vibrato, and correct hand position & posture. These various aspects of flute playing will be dispersed throughout based on the student’s progress.

Required Materials: Students are expected to purchase their own music and supplies as recommended by the instructor.

  • Notebook: the student is required to bring this and a pencil to record lesson notes, assignments, program notes, etc.

  • Metronome & Tuner: this is a vital part in the student’s progress

  • Any music recommended by the instructor: this can be purchased directly from www.fluteworld.com or http://www.flute4u.com

  • Music stand for use at home

Attendance/Cancellations: Under special circumstances, a lesson may be cancelled; however, notice must be given 24 hours in advance. If I do not receive the message before the student’s lesson time, the absence is considered unexcused and would need to be paid. If the student would like to reschedule, it is up to him/her to contact me to find another time. If I am absent for any reason, I will call you with the recommended number you have given me.

Lesson Fees: For lessons fees, please contact me via email or phone. Fees can be paid before the lesson or at the beginning of each month.

Flute Events: There will be a number of flute events that will be occurring throughout the year. Although this is not a requirement, I do encourage students to attend as many as possible to immerse themselves in a positive, flute-enriching environment!

Practicing: I require students to practice a minimum of five days per week. For beginners, 20 minutes a day; 30-60 minutes for intermediate students; 1-2 hours for advanced students.

CODA: It is my intention to help each student with his/her individual goals. However, this cannot be achieved without proper practice routines and attitudes. I will encourage students to take advantage of all of these musical aspects that come across. Thank you and I look forward to working with you!
